This Is A Test

Once upon a time, many moons ago, when I was young and you were even younger, there was a community-minded concept to pose a simple challange: To write an entire novel-length work - Twenty Thousand Words - in just thirty of your earth days and (increasingly as the days grew darker) nights.

Alas, the heart of darkness entered the story, and amid a storm of validated accusations and poor policy, the site at the heart of the project was tainted with a stain that could not be removed. Good people who were involved with the project moved on to somewhere where they would not be associated with the machinations of the evil few, and a dimmed light went out in the world.

This isn't an attempt to reproduce that project. I am crazy, but not stupid. This is an attempt to build a platform for such challange to continue to exist, because primarily it was a force of good in the world, and a force of community in the world, and a range of deities would agree that both those things are required in the "This is fine" flagration that engulfs the world.

There are no forums. There will at some point be groups, and friends, and the ability to chivvy your friends and groups along with encouraging words and friendly mockery. But we start somewhere, and so we start here. Sign in, track your wordcount, beat the buzzer.

I am Nicholas 'Aquarion' Avenell, your host and coder. This is my sandpit, and I invite you to play in it.
